All the virgin cotton that is mixed with our recycled cotton is GOTS certified. Through this process of certification we know that our cotton comes from Izmir, Turkey. While we don’t have direct contact with the farmers that grow and pick our cotton, through the GOTS certification we can trust that they work in healthy and fair conditions.

What’s Special About GOTS cotton:
From seed to fibre

GOTS is considered one of the world's leading standards for organic fibres. They have the highest social and environmental criteria which is reviewed across the entire supply chain. More specifically, by using GOTS cotton we can be sure that no insecticides or pesticides were used and that the working rights of the farmers were protected.

From seed to fibre

The cotton is picked by the farmer. The farmer must be certified according to international or national organic farming standard. Only then can the cotton be sold to a trader that is GOTS certified. The picked cotton is cleaned to remove the seed and any other plant leftovers. Further steps take place to brush the cotton into a thick string-shaped "carded sliver." The cotton is further combed, cleaned and stretched across multiple processes. At Recover the organic cotton is then blended in with the recycled cotton fibre to make the yarn.
